Pickled!

Audio description available

Pickled! at APT gallery explored the elusive nature of time - its overlooked moments, contradictions and malleability - through a paradoxical space inspired by the leap day.

Featuring work by Edgar Racy, Sid and Jim, Emma Ridgway, Emma Ogawa Todd, Ellie Niblock, Konstantinos Leloudas, Marine One, Paul Barbu, Chris Rabbit and Keziah Greenwood.

Curated by Nastia Svarevska with Sid Smith.

Time is elusive, an invisible force we measure but rarely perceive fully. Pickled! rummages through the overlooked fragments of time: the pauses, the gaps, and the moments in between. It poses questions about the seconds spent waiting, the hours deemed unproductive, and the days that pass unnoticed.

Taking inspiration from leap days, a peculiar quirk of our calendar, Pickled! examines time’s unpredictable rhythms. It’s part bunker, part time capsule, a place where clocks tick differently depending on where they’re placed. Moments here stretch and contract, taking on new dimensions and foreign time zones.

Pickled! is not about retrieving lost time but embracing its strangeness and unpredictability. It asks visitors to rethink how they experience and value time, treating it not as a strict measurement but as a kaleidoscope of possibilities and sensations.
