Sid and Jim

Sid and Jim (Kent and Suffolk, UK) are a UK-based artist duo working across film, sculpture, painting, sound, performance and curatorial projects. Their work explores storytelling through overlooked details, folklore, and familiar cultural symbols, often subverting expectations to reveal the absurd or uncanny. Using invisibility, gaps, and suggestion, they create open-ended narratives that invite viewers to participate; filling in the blanks, questioning assumptions, and constructing their own meanings.

Blurring the line between fiction and reality, their practice plays with the tension between presence and absence, using objects, images, and environments that feel both familiar and unsettled. Drawing inspiration from pop culture, historical myths, and the mundane, their work invites audiences to engage in acts of speculation, whether by uncovering hidden narratives, imagining alternative histories, or piecing together fragments of a story that may never fully resolve.

Sid and Jim have had solo and duo exhibitions in London, Leeds, Brighton, Blyth, and Reykjavík. They have also exhibited extensively in group shows across the UK and internationally, including at Tate Modern, Whitechapel Gallery, Saatchi Gallery, London Art Fair, the Museum of Humour and Satire, and The Knockdown Centre. Alongside their exhibitions, they have curated numerous projects both in London and online.

Beyond their artistic practice, they co-produced the Artists and Friends podcast (2016–2020) and founded The SketchUp Residency (2016–2020), supporting emerging artists through digital and physical spaces.
