Scary Biscuits
A site responsive group exhibition by Thin Red Lion, exploring the spatial and emotional law of the vaults and tombs below the New St Pancras church.
The term “Scary biscuits” was introduced to us by one of our T.R.L collective members Ellie Niblock as a phrase in common usage in northern Ireland. The phrase is broadly used to describe all manner of miss haps and spooky occurrences. Crypt gallery in its nature is an unorthodox space for exhibiting, it has its own input, its own inherent character. The show title speaks to the power of context in the interpretation of an artwork, in this case the works are subject to spacial and emotional context. The exhibited works will aim start a dialogue with the space, bringing together artists with cross disciplinary practices, the curated works will echo the Crypts moods, forms and features.
