Emma Ridgway
Emma Ridgway (b. 1987, Stafford) studied Illustration at Falmouth University and has worked for clients including Smithsonian Magazine, Unfold Amsterdam x The Van Gogh Museum and independant music journal Gold Flake Paint.
She received a Communication Arts Award of Excellence for editorial illustrations in 2016, and her work with collage was included in a report by the National Institute for Art History (INHA), Paris.
Drawing is at the root of her practice, which takes the form of oil paintings, gouache and watercolour paintings, pen and ink drawings, collages, animations and fabric hangings. Recent work has explored nostalgia and neglect in post-industrial British towns; neighbourhood cats as seen through a kitchen window; and a stamp collection homage to Thomas Pynchon’s The Crying of Lot 49.
