Emma Ogawa Todd

Emma Ogawa Todd is a multidisciplinary artist exploring cultural intersections and Shintoist cosmology. Tracing family histories and archives, she integrates cross-cultural symbolism of her Japanese-English heritage into her work. She uses found objects, influenced by the belief in kami (spirits in all things) to reconsider coexistence with waste. Ogawa Todd focuses on cyclicality over linearity, fostering dialogue on spiritual and consumer values. Through processes of collecting, upcycling, dying, carving, weaving and stitching, her practice emphasizes the theme of interconnectedness.
